Last week 2 weeks ago, at the thrift store I found a wonderful thing. A magnetic poetry kit — never used and only #0.88. Score! The kit’s theme — “Dog Lover.”
At home, I opened the box, dumped its contents onto my desk, and let serendipity do her thing.
One intriguing or funny little phrase after another emerged, as I turned the sets of still joined tiles over — phrases like “pack happy,” “sleep girl” (that’d be me most mornings) and “there ball stay.”
The best phrases were the ones which I didn’t have to sift out from amongst the larger groupings, — but which seemed to have self-segregated and were complete on their own. These were phrases like “morning beautiful” and “companion intelligent.”
I suppose you can use it as an imperative — “Bark ‘LOVE’!” — or as a noun, — “It’s all about the ‘barklove’!” Either way I looked at it, the response I felt was a gleeful “Yep!” The more I thought about it and played with it, the more “barklove” made me grin.
As I played with “barklove,” I started to think about all the dog-bloggers (and cat-bloggers!) who have left comments for The Aged Cat and me, and again I thought, “yep!” That fits. There are some truly “barklovely” folks out there.
So as a treat, I thought I’d post “barklove” and the silly phrases I made out of it. If any of them amuse you, please feel free to copy and make use of them. Not an award, exactly. More of a treat and a thank you.

(This next one, … I really wanted it to say “barklove give some get some.” Alas! no “get” materialized, so I left it at this:)

Oh I’m so glad you like it! Thanks Mercedes! things have been getting better. Got out of town for the first time in . . . golly, I think a year and a half and though there were some odd feelings about it (I’ll post about it tomorrow), it felt good!

We were posting on each other’s blog at the same time-lol! I am glad things are getting a little better! Glad you got out of town for a bit. Jedd is ready for a trip, but I can’t bring myself to leave Patch right now. I am trying to persuade him to wait until School is out for the summer. He wants to go somewhere next week (Spring Break), but I am not. Patch isn’t doing so well right now. Thanks again for this touching post!

How nifty! We have magnetic poetry, but I didn’t know it comes in Dog. I can hear Donny Osmond crooning, “And they called it: barky lo-o-ove…” Thanks for the howlentine message to us dog people.

Thank you! I know I am usually “mad with bark love!” Hey, go see my post today. Through a short, traumatic experience, I have changed my opinion of cats for the better!

Hee hee! I’ll have to get a set for my mythical magnetic cut and paste board! Although I don’t know how the cat of the house would feel about bark love. That is assuming that she can read. But who knows what she gets up to when I’m at work…

I know what I want to save up for for Christmas (if I give to one of my girls, I’ll get to play with it.) I can say it’s for Charlie the Scottie, but I know the cats and I will be playing with it. I plan to use barklove in the Small World in the near future.
